Hello,
I received the following mail from USCIS. I had my birthdate wrong on my I-797 approval notice for F1. My school advisor had mailed the service center, and today I received this email from CRIS. Please let me know what this means exactly.
Current Status: We mailed you an amended notice.
On January 27, 2009, an amended notice on this case was mailed describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before receiving our notice, call customer service. If this I539 APPLICATION TO EXTEND OR CHANGE NONIMMIGRANT STATUS is still pending, you will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. If this case is still pending, we process each kind of case in the order we receive them. I have valid H-1 visa to re-enter US. My visa is valid till Dec 2011. I already got that stamped when i went to india last year.
So I shouldn't run into any problems at the port of entry, even if my AP gets approved while I am out of the country, right? Thanks so much for taking time to answer.

My main worry is that since I dont have a copy of the I-140 approval from old employer, Is there a way the new employer can ask USCIS to look up that case(I have a copy of the receipt)?

Is this NEW employer or same employer .
If NEW employer ,then u can apply for new H1B petition but cannot ask for extension of stay .
Extension of stay is for someone who is already in USA on H1B status .

HI,
I received a 500$ check for apartment referral , I am planning to give the entire amount to the person who took the apartment. I was wondering if during the tax return filing I should be reporting this as an income and if yes should I be deducting the tax amount from the 500$ as I will be paying taxes on it.

Yes, you can renew if your 140 is approved, i have done mine, my H1B was expired and used EAD for 2 months, and again file fresh H1B and got approved and went out of country to get stamp done,
