Hi,
Does anybody know as to how long it takes to receive the H1B receipt # when its being processed in premium processing?
Mine was premium processing. 15 days to receive receipt and another 15 days to receive approval.

I am confused here, can some one shed light on this.
Say if we don't apply for AP-Advance Parole while filing with I-485 and EAD now as vaild stamped H1b is good till August 2008.In this situation while applying for AP next week would we have to pay new fee of I-485 $1010 as with new fee structure effective Aug 1st,2007 EAD & AP comes as a package along with it.
Please correct me if I have misintrepreted it.

Travisa SF is a small setup ... there is one lady who manages the show (and she may have an asst or two). Your best option is to visit their office in downtown ... somewhere near Market St, I remember.
I had good experience with them for UK visa a few years ago ... good luck!

My contract pre-maturly ended on Sep 27, 2008. I was on hourly rate on W2. So far I haven't find any assignment. I don't get paid.
Am I eligible for unemployment benefits. Has anyone claimed this. Are there any future disadvantages if you show unemployment.

Yeah was a real eye opener, this one. Makes u wonder sometimes, whether we are really welcome in this country or not. More importantly, will we ever be REALLY accepted as part of the "American culture". These organizations are open about their "feelings" toward immigrants. There are a Whole lot more people who may not be so open about their thoughts, but still have them nonetheless.

He is out of status if the L-1 employer no longer exists or he is not working for that company. If the position still existed, he would be maintaining status even though the L-1 I-94 has expired, if the extension was filed before the I-94 expired. However, the issue isn't the late filing of the extension, it's the fact that he is not working for the company and really had no basis for filing an extension.
Having the extension pending means that he is not accruing unlawful presence (something that could subject him to a bar from the US), however he needs to rectify his status rather than rely on an inappropriate L-1. If he trusts his immigration lawyer, he should discuss the options with her/him.

I am planning to visit India during May 2011. I am working in multinational company as civil engineer (on H1-B). I have PhD from US uni. I am reading a lot about visa stamping probs these days. I was on CPT ( Curriculum Practical Training) a 17 month extension of work authorization which exprires on October 19. During this time I had applied for H-1B and was approved. My H-1B visa was to take effect on October 1. But I was laid off a few days ago. Could anyone help me with any suggestions? I'm still on a F-1 visa. Can I apply for work at a different company and if hired can I begin work immediately even though my CPT was approved for a different company? What about my status? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My H1-B is expiring in December 2007. I have approved I-140 now and am hoping to get 3 year H1-B extension based on my approved I-140. Do you think I can get 3 year extension even if the visa numbers for filing AOS is current? Does AC21 apply to this case? Please suggest.

Fixed it - found that I had set something to be slightly bigger than the parent control visible area and the animation wouldn't play. As long as the control doesn't overlap the parent area I'm OK!

You can still get a 1 year extension claiming that your PERM application is still pending. It all depends on the officer that the decision has not been made on PERM application.
The PERM is already denied and you can not get the extension based on the denied PERM.

My friends company is considering to send him to Canada for some consulting assignment.
All other people in the department are USA Citizens.
I was wondering what Visa would my friend need to work in Canada.
I ask , as USA citizens may have different rules than Indian Citizens , to work in Canada.
Does anyone else have any experience with this ?
